Cyprus

Cyprus Welcomes You

The Mediterranean is home to a variety of different cultures, climates and governments.  Cyprus, a republic located in the Mediterranean region, is one of the largest islands in the world. Counting the population of the island against other islands, Cypress ranks 51st in terms of the size of its populace.

Cyprus is located in the same area where Lebanon, Egypt, Syria and Greece form the cradle of civilization. Consequently, Cyprus has a history that encompasses identities and cultures of the Middle East as well as Europe. Archeologists, historians and cultural anthropologists are all fascinated by the discoveries and sites that date earlier, in some cases, than the 10th millennium BC. Today, Cyprus is a member state of the European Union, has a stable, respected and republican government.

Cyprus has a varied climate and topography. In many areas of the country, there are mountain ranges and Cyprus is ocean-adjacent, leading many to think that skiing and surfing may be very close together in Cyprus! The temperatures, however, do not typically get below warm weather, and the country in fact boasts of sunshine that tops 3,200 hours per year. Outside of the higher mountains, snow is not common.
