Greece

Greece Welcomes You

There seems to be no end to the number of people who want to live in Greece. The reputation of Greece, combined with the amazing weather, fascinating archeological, historical and philosophical studies opportunities, combine to ensure that those who are fortunate enough to gain a Greek residence permit will have something very special. Beginning in 2013, Greece started issuing foreigners the right to live in Greece for up to five years, provided they could qualify for a Greek residence permit. In just over six years, Greece has issued an astonishing 1,600 permits.

While the permit program does offer some amazing benefits to holders, those benefits do not, however, the right to health care and other state services.  Residency Permit holders do not also gain the right to work as employees in Greece. Permit holders are, however, able to start their own businesses, participate in investments, and in other ways earn income.  One of the most attractive aspects of the residency program is its tax advantage.  Non-residents pay approximately 22% income tax on income earned in Greece, but do not pay income tax on income earned outside of Greece.

The Greek residence permit program is based in real estate ownership.  Applicants have to make investment in one or more real estate transactions totaling €250,000.  The application process is one of the more streamlined. Applicants are required to prove that they have medical insurance coverage for themselves, and that they have no criminal record.  Dependent children, dependent parents and spouses are eligible under a single application.
